Cannabidiol (CBD) Health Benefits.

Clinical research is still defining the Benefits Of CBD.  New developments on how Cannabinoids can help humans and pets are coming out every day.

So be sure to subscribe to our blog to stay up on the most current information about CBD and Cannabinoids.

The one thing that is for sure is that the FDA has approved Cannabidiol(CBD) for use in Epilepsy patients.  Any other “Side Effect” that one may perceive while using products containing CBD has not been proven, evaluated or approved by the FDA for treating those “side effects”.

FYI, YouTube search “Epilepsy Patients Take CBD” and you will see some amazing videos pop up that are definitely worth the watch time.

If you are unsure if you need to add CBD to your daily health regimen,  speak with your doctor and then come back to save big on your CBD.

What Is CBD?

What Is CBD?

CBD or Cannabidiol Is One Of 80+ Active Compounds In The Hemp Sativa Plant.  When CBD Is Extracted It’s Refined As A Full Spectrum Oil With Small Traces Of THC.

By law, CBD products must contain less than .03% of the psychoactive compound Tetrahydrocannabinol or THC.

CBD can be then refined to fully remove the trace THC and that’s what’s called “Isolate” or “Broad Spectrum”.

Many companies are releasing products that claim to be zero THC while others, like this one, have multiple options available for either Full Spectrum Cannabidiol or THC free.

What Does CBD Do?

Does CBD Really Do Anything?

Cannabidiol (CBD) has been show to potentially Aid Homeostasis (Balance) within our bodies.  The CBD oil itself does not “do” the work.  CBD simply signals the bodies Endocannabinoid system to signal the body to start repairing itself from the inside out.

When we feed our cannabinoid receptors, our bodies Endocannabinoid System begins to work properly and the body begins to self regulate and self correct.

Studies are still ongoing, but multiple institutions and labs around the world are studying Cannabinoids like CBD, CBG, CBN and even THC for multiple medical uses.

What we do know is that the FDA has only approved “Hemp Oil” for reducing the negative effects of epilepsy.  Although, Marijuana has been FDA approved as a drug that can be prescribed to cancer patients for battling symptoms associated with chemotherapy or radiation.

What Is Homeostasis?

As described in this article, Homeostasis is a function of the body that works to balance all other functions within the body.   For example, being outside on a hot day requires your body to engage the internal functions to keep your body at a normal temperature or,  if you are dehydrated, your body will be out of homeostasis and need more fluid in order to keep the relative internal balance.

How Does CBD Help

How Does CBD Help?

CBD and other cannabinoids work with the bodies natural homeostasis through the activation of the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) within the body.  The ECS is a conglomeration of two types lipid based neurotransmitters that are directly correlated to the peripheral and central nervous systems.

CB1 receptors interact best to THC and are found mostly within the nerve cells in the brain and the C.N.S.(Central Nervous System). While CB2 receptors best interact with CBD and are found mostly found on immune cells that mostly flout around the body in the blood stream and the gastrointestinal tract.

How Is CBD Made

How Is CBD Oil Produced?

There are many ways to extract Cannabidiol from the Hemp Sativa plant but, If you are looking for the highest quality CBD,  you want to look for products like these that are made from using the entire plant, not just the seeds.

It All Starts With The Soil.

Some hemp farms like this one develop the soil with Biochar.  Biochar is an ancient technique of returning carbon rich materials to the soil. This helps with the overall health of the plants as they grow.

The Seeds.

The seeds used in quality CBD products are non-GMO certified for quality.  This means they are not genetically modified.

Sprouting Period

The hemp plants are meticulously cared for throughout it’s growing period.  Farms will work around the clock to properly water, trim, clip, and LOVE the plants. The farms will only use all natural insecticides to keep the crops clear of any type of infestation as well as put up netting(if outdoors) around the entire farm to keep away drift deposits.

Extraction Of Cannabinoids.

Once the crop is harvested, the entire plant is sent to a refinery where they use a multitude of techniques to extract the oils from the hemp plant.  There are many ways to extract Oil from the hemp Sativa plant:

  1. The hemp goes through a supercritical CO2 extraction process that safely extracts high quality CBD oil specifically.
  2. Another CBD extraction method is using a chemical compound called “ethanol oil” and using a high preasure vacuum process that extracts the oil.
  3. A new way of extraction is called Cold Extraction.  This process freezes the hemp and then it is processed through a Vacuum and hit with a beam of light that disintegrates any trace THC and keeps all other forms of Cannabinoids in tact.  Cold extraction has also been shown to keep the overall integrity of the oils better then the previous options and in turn, giving you a better quality cannabinoid product.

Is CBD Cannabidiol Safe

CBD Safety.

While the benefits of CBD for Epilepsy patients are proven and FDA approved, others like pain management, brain function and arthritis are not proven.

Adverse Effects from short term use of CBD as fatigue, drowsiness, irritability, reduced appetite and diarrhea.

Other than sedation or gastrointestinal distress, you can not overdose from Cannabidiol(CBD) or any cannabinoid for that matter.

CBD has also shown signs of increased effects of some prescription medications, just like Grapefruit can do for the well known anti depression medication Celexa.

It is always recommended to consult your doctor before taking any dietary supplement including cannabis.

Does CBD Get You High

Does CBD Get You High?

Even though CBD is extracted from the Cannabis Sativa plant,  pure CBD isolate contains zero THC.  THC is the compound that creates the “High” feeling.

You will not get high from any form of CBD product. It doesn’t mater if you are ingesting or applying topical creams.  YOU WILL NOT FEEL HIGH.

Will CBD Make Me Fail A Drug Test

Will CBD Show On Drug Test?

As of the writing of this information, the FDA Food and Drug Administration states that it is illegal for any CBD product to contain more than .03% THC.

Full Spectrum CBD tinctures, gummy and other edibles contains below .03% but a theory does suggest that prolonged use of full spectrum CBD could possibly cause a fail in a THC test.

Broad Spectrum CBD or THC free options are available to those who worry about this prolonged use theory.

Is CBD Addictive?

No, CBD oil in a non-addictive substance.  This is good since it means that you wont desire to take to much of the oil.

Research has shown that giving healthy humans a 50mg per 1 pound of body weight does not cause the body to crave the substance even after prolonged use.  Zero habit forming properties.

  1. This is very useful.
    Thank you for this information!

Very interested to try and see if I notice any results. I have been using another brand which honestly I have noticed nothing from (except maybe more vivid dreams, but there is probably a lot more fun stuff I could take if that is what I was after lol).

Anyway I’ll definitely go for that CBD

    Cheers,

    1. I am sorry to hear your current Cannabidiol ( CBD ) product is not working for you. What Milligram level are you currently at? I suggest a 1000mg Full Spectrum Tincture like this one because for me personally I found that I need at least 33mg to 66mg per day.

I suggest using Hush CBD or Green Birdie CBD because they’re full spectrum 1000mg tinctures that taste great.

If there is anything you need please feel free to ask. I’m always available to talk Cannabis 🙂

  2. Greetings – I have only started using a full spectrum hemp oil about a week ago so I suppose it is too early to report any findings. I started using it because my research indicated that it helps with homeostasis. Since balance is the key to life I decided to put a little extra effort in the process. We shall see how it works! Thanks!

    1. Hello Nathaniel, Thank you for taking the time to comment.

After reading your comment, I researched “CBD FOR HOMEOSTASIS” and I found that CBD really does aid in both internal and external factors of homeostasis.

The bodies Endocannabinoid system plays a huge role in aiding homeostasis. CBD or Cannabidiol aids the Endocannabiniod system in turn making the body function at its peak.

      Thank you for your purchase.

  3. CBD or Cannabidiol aid the Endocannabinoid system within the body.  The Endocannabinoid system is a conglomeration of receptors that studies have shown to aid in physiological processes such as appetite, regulating pain, memory and mood.Even though CBD is extracted from the Cannabis plant,  pure Cannabidiol doesn’t contain any THC witch is the compound that creates the “High” feeling.
CBD may give you a relaxation feeling and has been shown to relieve Anxiety.  You will not get high from any form of CBD product. It doesn’t mater if you are ingesting or applying topical creams.  YOU WILL NOT FEEL HIGH

  4. Thank you for the informative article on CBD and if it works. It was interesting to read about some of the background history and the Agricultural Improvement Act.

Cannabidiol has such a great amount of health benefits and it is encouraging to see that research is showing positive results in so many health areas.

    1. LineCowley,

Thank you so much for your comment. The benefits of CBD keeps piling up. A ton of new studies are being conducted by multiple labs around the world. I am so excited to find out all the new developments.

      Have a great day

  5. Nice article!  I have been hearing a lot about CBD oil but nothing has been explained to me the way you did with your post.  I can see there is a lot of health benefit from using CBD.  Do you know if this can help people with type 2 diabetes, like lowing down blood sugar?

    1. Hello Carole,

Since diabetes is a inflammatory condition and CBD is a natural anti-inflammatory, yes I feel like it would be safe to say it may help some of the symptoms you experience.

      Thank you for your comment.

  6. I’m really glad they have legalized the growing of hemp again — it was such an important agricultural product.  Took them long enough to change a bad law!

I love CBD!  I use it for arthritis, mostly, and in fact have replaced my arthritis prescription with CBD.  By the way, it is also helpful for diabetes.

I use it for my old cat, who has lots of problems, including arthritis.  He has done very well with it.  In fact, I put two or three drops in a little dish and give it to him and he laps it up!  He really likes it!

This product has helped me in many ways, and I’m so glad it is now available for everyone.

    1. Thank You Fran for your comment. I am so happy to hear that CBD helped relieve your arthritis symptoms. I have been reading articles about CBD effecting Diabetic patients but I am still waiting to see definitive evidence on that.

  7. This plant has and is big news, there are so many mixed feelings when it comes to this pant because of how it is used and abuse. But from a medical standpoint, I have also heard some good things about how this can really help persons with illness. Although there is still a lot of mixed feeling I believe that medically once it is helping and people are using it only for that reason then it may be of benefit but for medical use only!!!!

    1. Yes It helps big time. CBD does not get your “high”. Like at all. CBD Oil works with your natural Endocannabinoid System or ECS for short. Your ECS is a grouping of transmitters in your body that aid your whole body.

  8. Thank you for writing such a thorough article about this topic. You addressed many different areas with regard to the use of CBD oils and I found your information very interesting.

I have done very little reading on this topic because of my personal views regarding the use of hemp for medicinal purposes. .  You have clarified some details for me and I certainly appreciate your information. I am now looking for longer term studies of the use of hemp and the products associated with this crop.

Again, I wish to commend you on such a well written article.  Thanks.

    1. Thank you Sandy for your comment. I totally understand peoples reservations with CBD. It’s new and a lot of new information is coming out literally daily. I invite you to subscribe so you will get all the new information as soon as I do.

      Cheers

  9. Thanks for the thorough explanation, I’t amazing to finally have a natural alternative for medications.

Do you know what is the best way to consume it for relaxation? How long does the CBD influence? and do you have to use it a few times to see results or do you get the full effect at once?

    1. Hi Inbalb

Thank you for your comment and questions concerning CBD.

In my experience I’ve learned that CBD is very personal for each user. I found that personally for relaxation its best to take it multiple times per day. The effects of CBD last about 4-6 hours for some and longer for others. It does take a few weeks for CBD to reactivate your Endocannabinoid System. Therefore you should see the full effects within a few weeks of consistent use.

  10. So.. I actually have had a few experiences with CBD. In particular, back in October, I was recovering from a traumatic injury with my left foot. Needless to say, I am not one for prescription from the docs, especially if it pain medicines. They thought I was crazy when I rejected each prescription offered to me from October-March for my recovery. During one month where I had to stay with my parents unable to take care of myself, my sister came by and offered me CBD Mango gummies. These helped relieve a lot of the pain I was in, not to mention the stress and anxiety felt of not being able to take care of myself. Thanks for this great information! I’m a believer <3

    1. Hello Cassandra,

I am so happy to hear the CBD Gummies helped you. Have you ever tried a Cannabidiol Tincture? Tinctures are the most cost effective, and pure way to get CBD into the bloodstream. I recommend a few on my site under the “reviews” tab.

  11. I have been very skeptical of CBD in the past but you may have convinced me to look at it again. I have a sister who has had epilepsy for 50 + years. I feel that she may benefit from it in place of the narcotics she has been taking for so long. I am considering it as well since I have inflammation from GBS. I reviewed some of the claims you made and was very impressed with how accurate you were in your presentation. The only way any of us can grow is by education on a topic. You impressed me with your knowledge and I must thank you for that.

    Jerry

    1. Thank you Mccoy for your comment about CBD.

I have seen many people bennefit in many ways from adding Cannabidiol(CBD) to there healthy lifestyle. Especially In Epilepsy patients. I would recommend using CBD for a general health supplement. I feel like you will feel results from your inflammation.

  12. Hey Jay – Informative article! I find there are still many people out there that no little to nothing about CBD or much else in the Cannabis industry.

There are many old farts like me who have enjoyed great reduction or complete reduction of joint pain from inflammation. Anyone who has pain and can have it reduced or illuminated in a natural way will be thrilled and will keep on purchasing more and spreading the word.  I know several people in their 50’s and above who have found tremendous pain relief from inflammation in their joints.

    Thanks for your post!
    Glenn

  13. This is great info! I have used a number of CBD products over the past few years. I’m so grateful for the emergence of information and the new research results!

One of the most interesting facts about depression I recently learned is that there is no link between low serotonin and depression but there is a strong link between depression/fatigue and inflammation! That means that treatments like CBD might make suitable replacements for SSRI’s. There are so many really disturbing side effects of SSRI’s that any alternative can be very attractive and CBD products generally have excellent risk/reward profiles. For instance, SSRI’s are well known to destroy a person’s libido while that is not a common side effect of CBD.

Another fascinating fact I’ve learned is that a good night’s sleep is far more effective than an SSRI. It’s difficult to quantify those results but apparently there are studies that show good sleep can be 2x-5x as good as an SSRI. The improvement in relaxation and sleep offered by CBD make it an obvious choice for anyone with depression or anxiety.

Are you aware of any studies on the effect of CBD on depression/anxiety or similar problems?

    1. Hi Noah. I know that a few studies show that CBD is a natural remedy for aiding anxiety and depression symptoms. Personally, I have fought with anxiety and depression my whole life. I have taken medications like celexa and welbutrin and none of them have helped me like CBD oil Has.

I no longer suffer. No longer take any side effects packed medications. And now I am doing what I love talking about the products that helped me so much.

Thank you for your awesome comment.

      Cheers.

  14. Hi Jay!…I read your article about CBD, and yes it is naturally produce and it is used as an herbal medicine to cure anxiety, gastrointestinal problems,as topical concoction for skin disease etc…during the olden times. And in the modern times most of CBD use is for Seizure disorders, anxiety and mood disorders. Its good that it is allowed in some states in the US for such treatments but in other parts in the globe its use is prohibited due to the fact that it lacks good clinical efficacy and safety studies. During this new novel coronavirus pandemic…there are countries now that has ongoing studies using CBD oils for  possible treatment of CBD against Sars-CoV2. I myself lack the experienced of using CBD oil to my patients since it is not allowed in our country…maybe someday CBD oil will be available in our local drugstore as treatment for specific diseases.

    1. Laertes,

I have read studies that indicate that Cannabinoids like CBD and CBG have been effective in reducing inflammation due to Sars-CoV2 (coronavirus) and I am very excited to learn more about the subject as more information comes to light.

I’m sure that CBD will be legal worldwide in a very short time with all the data that is being discovered about the benefits of Cannabinoids. The governments of the world will not be able to keep CBD from people once this data is verified.

      Have a great day

  15. Hi Justin,

I do believe in the benefits of CBD oil, and I use it for severe arthritic pain. Homeostasis to balance other functions within the body is key I believe. I think we have come a long way with CBD oil, and I see the popularity of it’s use on the rise. Natural forms of treating health issues has always provided a better alternative to medicating one’s self. I also use CBD oil for anxiety and depression, something you have mentioned in your uses.

Thank you for sharing this great website.

    Best wishes,

    Michael

    1. Hello Lesabre,

I do use Cannabidiol(CBD) to aid my pain and anxiety. I also use CBD and Terpenes to help me sleep and to aid my brain in communicating with itself. Homeostasis is so big and people don’t understand it yet.

When Homeostasis is off, our bodies can’t provide itself efficiently in any area of health. The Endocannabinoid System works to help balance homeostasis so your body can heal itself faster. This is very important.

  16. Informative and awesome how Cannabidiol is one of 80 active compounds of the hemp family. All things I didn’t know. I’m glad that you can at least blog about this. A friend told me that she can’t advertise or CBD oil on a social platform like Facebook. I was surprised to hear that. It’s safe, and legal, and can help reduce pain in a lot of people. I wonder what they’re thinking of? Is it because Big Pharma is more interested in selling prescription pain medicine? Could be. You keep writing about this. People will be able to make the switch. This is a lot healthier than addictive pain tablets.

    1. Hello Joss.

It is true that a lot of platforms will not allow advertising to be purchased for Cannabidiol products or any cannabis product for that matter.

The guidelines for advertising is becoming lest strict due to new information being released literally daily.

The fact is Cannabinoids have been used as an alternative medicine for centuries and our bodies need cannabinoids to activate our Endocannabinoid System.

  17. I have heard a lot about CBD oil and its benefits but haven’t looked in depth. I also bought some to use but found out it had an expired use-by date. I wonder if use by date is relevant?

I’m also concerned reading from your article that it ‘ in some instances CBD can cause fatigue, drowsiness, irritability, reduced appetite and diarrhea). How does one minimise these negatives?

  18. Hi Justin

I’ve suffered from anxiety and depression for over 30 years and now that CBD oil is legal here in the UK for medical purposes I’m seriously tempted to give it a try and see if it works for me as well as you say that it’s worked for you.

I’m still not sure about the legality of buying privately over here though, or whether we have to have it prescribed by a Doctor, but if I am able to source it for myself, then I will likely come back here and buy it from you as you’ve given me a lot of very valuable information that I didn’t have before.

    Cheers

    Rich 🙂

  19. Hi Jay,

The testing of the THC contamination with CBD oil is done by a third party. It is sold after it meets the criteria of <0.03% of THC.

I have seen a small stall in Philadelphia small business expo trying to sell CBD oil and providing a brochure. They were looking for people to participate in selling the stuff for money. I remember a small no of people in a line and some collecting cards.
There are initiatives around the world for people to try and test. It has helped people in the ancient India and now as well. But it is banned in India.

I hope with goverment passing a law to use CBD May help more people.

  20. Hi, Jay,

I’ve heard and read a lot about the benefits of CBD, although I have never tried it myself. However, a cousin of mine has tried it, and he said it works charms. He used to suffer from insomnia.

The number of benefits is amazing. It can even be used to treat cancer! How amazing is that!

I’m at ease knowing it won’t get me high lol. Just one question: Are there any restrictions to buy it, like a prescription?

    Thanks for sharing.

  21. Albright McHeals Sr

Great review for great products from great company. CBD products really work, my mum is a friend of their products. Currently a client of mind is diagnosed of PID  and I recommand their products to her. she bought and it and start using and get amazing results. Their products really works. recommanded.

  22. Hi, wow what an interesting article. I remember having to undertake so much research on health and nutrition when trying to cure previous health conditions. The research I did online really helped me to get through it. I faced a lot of stigma about researching health benefits online, but as long as I didn’t research minor symptoms vs serious health conditions it was all good. Actually I would like to know more about the similarities and differences with CBD, Hemp and Marijuana. As a beauty blogger I have written a few articles on the benefits of CBD oil for weight loss and skincare. I would like to know more about different products to buy with CBD from a health point of view?

  23. Great content. I Am absolutely an advocate of CBD topicals.  I Am particularly akin to colorless balms that can be applied before sleep.  The biggest challenge I have experienced thus far, when shopping, is understanding which balms are made from the the best base.  I received a sample once. It worked wonderfully. I went to purchase it and found it was an Emu oil base.  I chose not to buy.  Since then, I have encountered various bases.  Do you have a preferred base for best absorption of and transdermal transport of the CBD? Thank you kindly.

  24. I’ve spoken with a lot of people who have had great success with CBD oil. I must admit that I did not see any real improvement in my epilepsy or autoimmune condition from it. It may have been because I didn’t stick with it long enough to see results. How long did it take for you to see improvement with CBD oil? It also may not work on catamenial epilepsy as that tends to be due to a fluctuation of hormones around the menstrual cycle. Overall, I think it is an excellent alternative for many people.

  25. Hi! There, just got a bottle of CBD, oil I wanted to try to see if it would work on my aching right side of my gums and teeth, so, far so good. and it helps some of my joint pain too. It sure helps me sleep naturally. I am thinking of getting some for my dog a mix chihuahua. lol !!!! Thanks for the help on the research of the topic.
